DEFRA on 30 March 2017 updated their online guidance on their code for producing, supplying and using sewage sludge on farmland. From a land quality perspective the key changes was to add “The increased permissible potentially toxic elements (PTE) concentration in soils of greater than 7.0 apply only to soils containing more than 5% calcium carbonate.” to sections on PTE limits for arable soil and PTE limits for grassland.
