CIRIA’s awareness course is aimed at workers operating on brownfield sites where there is potential for asbestos exposure: whether through site investigation, archaeology surveys, below ground utility installations and maintenance,or redevelopment of brownfield sites. Developed by Jonathan Ford and Cecilia MacLeod of WYG, this course meets the requirements of Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 for ‘information, instruction and training’ and uses the guidance in CIRIA report C765 and CARSoil 2016, and follows the UKATA Asbestos in Soils Awareness syllabus (A0145). The first approved course was run in Edinburgh on 30 August, the next one is scheduled for London this week with more dates expected to follow.
