After some delay, the DEFRA research project started in 2013 looking to understand the risks that in situ contaminated sediments pose to freshwater bodies was published online in July 2017. The project comprised a number of work packages and the suite of reports produced on the conclusion of each work stage can together with overall final report can be downloaded here. Since there has been no annoucements regarding the report it is assumed that with Brexit looming, austerity measures affecting resources in the public sector that there is no immediate plans to address the recommendations made in the report.
