Updated_Guidance: sewage sludge on farmland:code of practice

DEFRA on 30 March 2017 updated their online guidance on their code for producing, supplying and using sewage sludge on farmland.  From a land quality perspective the key changes was to  add “The increased permissible potentially toxic elements (PTE) concentration in soils of greater than 7.0 apply only to soils containing more than 5% calcium carbonate.” to sections on PTE limits for arable soil and PTE limits for grassland.  To see the entire updated guide which also made some changes to when sludge may be used  please go to https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/sewage-sludge-on-farmland-code-of-practice.
