Consultation_ISO18400-104- Soil Quality – Sampling Part 104: Strategies and Statistical Evaluations

A draft international standard is out for consultation, which may be of interest to those looking at the distribution of chemical contaminants in soil.

This document, according to the draft British Standards’ website, provides general guidance on the development of site investigation strategies and detailed guidance on the development of sampling strategies, when information is required about:
−       the average properties of soil,
—      the variability of soil properties, and
—      the spatial distribution of soil properties.

Although the discussion in the document is primarily in terms of collection of material (field samples) for transfer to a laboratory for testing, the standard is also applicable to field measurements.

The document may be viewed and commented upon at https://drafts.bsigroup.com. The Consultation ends on 27 November 2016.
